Restaurant Review - Menya Kaku - Hong Kong

Ramen place with a highlight on snacks!

Impression

It would be too interesting if we said this place is more on its snacks than ramen because, well, this is a ramen place! So we have adjusted the title as "with a highlight on snacks". You could probably be able to guess the snacks served at this place are surprisingly good. Including the Japanese Fried Dumplings (HKD 30) and the Octopus Ball (HKD 30), both homemade and serving fresh. Just nothing much cannot beat these two elements!

For the ramen, they have both lived up to our expectation. Pricing at HKD69 to HKD88 is something we appreciated - after all, lots of ramen places these day set strangely-high price for their so-so ramen. Our guess is that with the relatively remote location that the place is sitting at, the price on the menu could be less aggressive to balance of the operating cost.

Meet and Exceed?

As mentioned, if you even visited this place, please do not skip the snacks part. One is that they are affordable with quality ingredients, second is that you could rarely go to a ramen place that served the side products in such a nice way. Similarly to lots of ramen places, this one do not have a thick menu but they also have some rice don if you are not in the mood of ramen too. Still, their items are remarkably in good quality and serving size.
