Restaurant Review - MeowBox Cafe - Hong Kong

A comfy cafe that you could not miss!

Impression

How pretty the drawings on the wall are! All about cats and all about food - the comfort food that we have always been talking about can be easily found in this comfy cafe. The reason for us to come again and again, is the fact that they have consistently providing quality food items to the diners, with an affordable price. The dishes we tried this time are the latest items on the menu and have been newly added just after the Chinese New Year. We can reassure you that they have all exceed our expectations with its uniqueness!

The beef stew in this Angle Hair with Braised Beef and Brussels Sprouts Stew in Red Wine (HKD 98) has a very remarkable taste of red wine. In most other restaurants, the taste of red wine of similar dishes are usually buried deep by taste of other seasonings. It's not the case here, where you can taste the clear and distinct scent of red wine. The beef and carrot have been braised so well that they have a very rich flavour and a very tender texture.

The cauliflower in Cauliflower Rice Risotto with Pumpkin and Chestnut in Oat Milk (HKD 88) has been finely chopped to the size of rice grains. The texture is however more crunchy (and with more fiber) than white rice. Cooked with fresh pumpkin, oat milk (instead of the traditional milk) and a myriad of other ingredients, the vegan cauliflower rice has a very creamy texture which surprised us. It's a remarkable feat to achieve such creaminess with ingredients which are so healthy. If you are a vegan, or trying to slim down a bit, or simply looking for a delicious healthy option, this is your must-try.

This Angel Hair in Jasmine Tea with Baked Sole Fillet and Vegetables (HKD 108) is stunning to look at to say the least. Unwrap the parchment paper and there lies a sole fillet topped with lemon and various herbs. At the bottom of the fillet, there's also an assortment of veggies giving the whole dish a very colourful look as well as a healthy kick for your tummy. The taste is great as well, filled with the freshness of lemon and fresh herbs. The angel hair has been flavoured with jasmine tea giving it a very refreshing scent, which is barely a common dish in other places.

The Lime Shakerato (HKD 40) is a very refreshing drink. The lime has successfully removed almost all of the bitterness of the usual coffee, so I believe this drink will be appealing to most diners who are not a regular coffee drinker; on the other hand, the Rose Cafe Latte (HKD 36) has a very milky and creamy texture that also served as a sweetener to the drink. The flavour of the rose is relatively subtle, but becomes increasingly strong sips after sips.

To finish off our lunch, we have had two cups of Brewda, Lemongrass and Rosella, as well as Lemongrass and Pandan respectively. This caffeine-free herbal tea is full of antioxidants and health-promoting properties. With the use of 100% natural ingredients, we found that these cups of tea exceptionally comforting. The best thing is bringing these home costs just HKD85 and you could have as many as 20 tea bags!

Meet and Exceed?

This place has partnered with Green Monday to promote healthy and environmentally friendly living, so that there are usually at least one to two items which are vegetarian. While enjoying our food, we should not forget to care about our planet, animals and the environment. Highly appreciated the effort! By the way, all sets serve with soup and designed drinks at HKD28. Oh, they also served a wide variety of afternoon tea sets too (though we are yet to try this time), do drop by if you miss the lunch time!
