A place for lamb chops?

Impression

Located at one of the busiest district in Hong Kong, JC Room takes the advantage of setting its foot on an area surrounded by tiny snacks shop instead of restaurants. This place focus on serving Western style dishes - steak, fries, pizza etc.

Our night started with Squid Ink Pasta with Daily Seafood (HKD 178) which includes few common seafood - squid, prawns and mussels. I am not sure if the pasta is homemade or not but the texture is being cooked just right. Other parts of this dish were not able to showcase the chef's cooking skills.



JC Angus Beef Burger with Melted Cheese, Bacon & Fries (HKD 138) is nothing less than what we expected. Fresh and crispy fries - I like the thick cut so there are some potato puree-like inside. The cheese was not that sharp so the focus stayed at the beef. Again, every thing met our expectations.



US Angus T-bone Steak (16oz), Veg & Fries with Black Truffle Sauce (HKD 380). The steak has been well-cooked and the dish has been presented nicely. However, we expected something more with this price - maybe some homemade sauce or some creative side dishes?



Pan-Fried New Zealand Lamb Chops (HKD 238) brought some freshness to the table. The potato was creamy and smooth which matched well with the grilled zucchini. The texture of the lamb chop itself was tender without being too salty. A pleasant one.



An additional note: We were a group of four people but one of my friends was late and we (the other 3) were planning to wait for her before ordering. However, the waiter told us twice that we can order which made us feel he was implicitly asking us to hurry up. Well, maybe we were too sensitive and he was just simply reminding us. But, believe it or not, when customers want to order, they will.

Wrap up

Without many similar Western restaurants nearby, this place easily stands out as a fresh spot to enjoy steak and fries. I might think the price has been sat too aggressive given that the food is good but the service provided was so-so.
