Restaurant Review - Lanzhou Beef Noodles - Shenzhen

A convenient spot for a quick Halal noodles

Impression

I found this place during my way back to Hong Kong from Futian station - it is literally 5 minutes walk from the station. Since the location is so convenient, you may see most of the customers are foreigners who is trying grab something before continuing their journey.

This Beef Noodles Soup (RMB 16) was the champ if you consider its price. I had no expectations for this to be honest so what I have been given was a huge surprise. The thin sliced beef was tender with slight fat on the side, the noodles itself was handmade in the kitchen (can you believe it!) but the soup was a bit too salty - but this was such a minor thing. With the green onion casually sprinkled on top, easily became the best RMB 16 beef noodles.

This Braised Beef Rice (RMB 28) deserved your attention too. If you fancy spicy food and are okay with stronger flavor, this is your thing. The portion of the beef was clearly more than the above one because of the higher price (only in terms of the percentage). It tasted a mixture of sour, sweet and spicy. Do note that it was a bit oily but was fair if you eat with the generous amount of rice.

Wrap up

With its prime location, neat environment and the pricing, I do not see any reasons of not giving it a try. Its menu might be fixed and you might get bored one day, but it for sure deserves your visit once a while, if you are nearby.
