Restaurant Review - Mr. Cat Vegetarian & Coffee - Kaohsiung (Taiwan)

An environmental friendly vegetarian place for family.

Impression

Simplicity is the theme of the decoration. Cute cartoons and cloud-like light bulbs may make the place an attractive spot for children. The large window and the minimum use of light takes the advantage of natural sunlight - such environmental friendly protection design is aligned with the vegetarian concept.

Firstly, the Fried Pork Chop Curry Rice Set (NTD 259) surprised us by the absolutely delicious smell. If you look closely, you would find that instead of white rice, five-grain rice has been used. The curry is not really the authentic curry given that its taste is very light - neither spicy nor salty. Including the dessert, every thing on this plate tasted light and very close to the original flavors.

The portion of Vegetables Hot Pot Set (NTD 350) was much larger than we expected as the set also included another bowl ingredients (not pictured). A variety of mushrooms and vegetables have been included. The side dishes were very similar to the curry set above - marinated fungus as starters, fruits plate and desserts. I would not be surprised if you told me the set (together with another plate of ingredients) can feed two people.



Bacon Cheese Egg Burger (NTD 95) scored because of its freshness. The use of mayo added a touch more fruity and sweet. The vegetarian bacon does not taste like bacon - ham instead. But anyways it does not really matter in my opinion. Contrast to our impressions, this burger was not heavy and fattening at all, but simple and light.

Snow White's Flavor Juice (NTD 100) is in fact a fruit smoothie. Nothing less than what we expected - our taste bud always like something fresh and sweet.

Wrap up

As a whole, we enjoyed each set on the menu. There were, however, not enough surprising factors that would warrant a return visit. The spacious and comfortable environment is something we missed and stands the cafe out.
