Restaurant Review - Tak Hing Yuen - Hong Kong

Who does not like the Chinese Yum Cha?

Impression

No matter the traditional Chinese food or local Hong Kong-styled street food, both are as attractive in our opinion. Coming to this place with a long history opening in this local mall, which served mainly the residents nearby, with quite a number of residential buildings within the area. The neighborhood is well-developed with all the necessities' stores and dining places.

Below are the few things that we enjoyed during lunch hour. Basically all of them are of good quality with reasonable price. The Chinese Sponge Cake and the Sweet Coconut Pancakes were the highlights, being super flavourful, particularly when served warm. These classics are always easy to find but hard to master. The thing that we appreciate is that this place does not refine any of them traditional recipes, but managed to make them in all the right ways.

Meet and Exceed?

We realized most of the service provided in these traditional places are so-so. We guess it is mainly due to the lack of consistent training, or simply put it, training. Age is always not the issue, but from their point of view, it is really not necessary to be "better" as the value added seem to be lower, or the cost involved is higher than the expected return. Well, true. People coming here will not be visiting again if the service is fantastic; similarly, the so-so service will not stop them from coming again. By the way, probably due to the long history of the management team, they do not have an official website or Facebook page for diners to take a look. Please do not mind.
