Restaurant Review - SoupDay - Hong Kong

Enjoy these homemade Double Boiled Soup!

Impression

Last time we came here, we enjoyed the soup so much and were impressed by the natural, no MSG way of making food as what it supposed to be. This time, wow, not only rice and congee, there are even a new line of food items - Chinese dim sum! We were so excited about it and these new products have brought the quality to another new and better level.

The Steamed Pork Rice (HKD 48) may look nothing too different from the classic ones, but the pork rib here is very soft and tender. The rib has just the right amount of fat to make the ribs soft but not excessively oily. The added green onions are a perfect match with the meat!

The Pumpkin & Sweet Corns Congee (HKD 58) was a good one. The size is large too as you can see, and the earthiness of the corns and pumpkins have somehow gave my stomach a kick and reminded me how simple a meal and how tasty it could be at the same time. I can feel that my body loves what I was eating and it felt soothing. Love it!

The Turnip Cake (HKD 38) is steamed, making it much more healthy than it's fried counterparts, which is usually the case in most other restaurants. The turnip cake is topped with homemade XO (impressive right?) sauce, adding to the savory taste of the already delicious turnip cake.

Both the Red Bean Panda Bun (HKD 38) and the Shrimp & Chives Dumplings (HKD 38) are delicious. Needless to say, the buns are so adorable that we do not want to hurt them (by eating them literally lol) but it was actually so yummy (sorry panda)! The red bean paste was not overly sweet and still you can taste the natural flavour of the red beans. The dumplings are no joke, so many ingredients were wrapped and not much fatty pork inside (that we always come across in Chinese tea house). Recommend!

This Double Boiled Mixed Fungus Vegan Soup (HKD 58) is such a nice treat as a little dessert. The sweetness comes naturally from the ingredients - mainly the red dates. Very very comforting when they are all in your tummy especially in these cool days. We particularly enjoyed the peach gums here. Amount of ingredients are huge, huge and huge lol And it was vegan!

It has surprised us by how rich the taste is for this Double Boiled Ginseng Chicken Soup (HKD 68). Rarely do we taste any soups that was so strong in Ginseng. And the only reason we could think of is the amount of Ginseng used here was A LOT, and with good quality. Every spoonful was full of nutrition and quality ingredients. After hours of boiling, the meats were still very tender.

This Double Boiled Black Garlic & Sea Conch Soup (HKD 58) has a very special taste. Imagine the taste of pork, the savory taste of black garlic, and the freshness of conch all mingled into one pot of soup, and that pot of soup is stewed for hours and served just for you.

Meet and Exceed?

The soup is where the spotlight is. Each and every bowl of soup here is stewed in a separate pot in traditional Chinese style. This ensures that one can eat and taste the same amount of ingredients is present in each and every bowl of soup. The end result is incredible. Additionally, the dim sum and the rice/congee are equally impressive with its use of natural ingredients - such emphasize is not commonly seen in other places.
