Restaurant Review - Famous August - Hong Kong

Impression

The location of this place is quite convenient, just few minutes walk from the closest MTR station. Without a lot of similar restaurants nearby, this one easily attracted my attention when I passed by. Neat and tidy environment and we were surprised by its wide variety of Western food items on the menu. It has been marked clearly that if the dishes that you ordered cost over HKD 180, you could enjoy the dessert and salad buffet bar  - and guess what, we did.

The Beef Tenderloin with Garlic and Honey (HKD 62) came first. As you can see in the picture below, the meats have been places on top of a full bowl of salad veggies and the juiciness of it has been absorbed. The beef has been well done with just the right amount of garlic as sides. The portion size was enough for two as a starter too. With this price setting, we agree that this one was quite a good deal.

Here's our first main, Squid and Scallops with Squid Ink Risotto (HKD 168). The size of the scallops was huge! And there were more than 5 slices of thick-cut squid, which we enjoyed so much. The ingredients taste very fresh - just not the squid ink itself which has a relatively light taste. Still, we think this one was our favourite of the night.

This Tomahawk Iberico (HKD 168) has wow-ed us when it's served. Super huge! And the presentation of it was quite decent. Fresh veggies salad and some sweet sauce on the side. And under this giant tomahawk, there's some fries which was being freshly fried. The thing was that it was been seasoned with too much salt that we think it was quite salty and lost the original flavour of the earthiness. It was juicy but unable to let us taste the freshness of it.

Meet and Exceed?

Regarding the salad and dessert buffet, there were around 5 to 6 choices for each categories. The quality of them was average, that they would not be the reason for us to come back, but definitely an aspect that scored. With this offer, the price of the food items become more attractive and diners have more choices on it. That's why I would write in the topic that for meat lovers, this is the place you can consider visiting!
