Restaurant Review - Slow Life - Hong Kong

Organic farm-to-table dinner time!

Impression

From the name of this place, you could probably guess what's their focus on about the food items. For example, all the vegetables they used are directly "Farm-to-Table", insisting in using the organic ingredients with no chemicals; and, for all the pasta, they are directly imported from Italy to ensure the highest quality. Stepping inside the place, you can see a whole area dedicated to the retail products including Superfood, organic, gluten-free, vegan, low GI products.

The Slowcook AUS Wagyu Beef Oxtail Stew (HKD 178) is such a delight of the night. The cheese on top, first of all, made the sauce even richer and flavour. Second, the oxtail was super tender and being chopped to small pieces that you can put them in your mouth without any hassles. Third, the pasta itself was al dente enough that did not ruin this quality dish. The price was quite reasonable if you take the quality (Wagyu!) into consideration.

The Linguine Alle Vongole (HKD 168) came with few large fresh clams that we enjoyed a lot. They were so well done that you could taste the freshness of them without being overcooked. One thing that we scared a lot is that the ingredients themselves are nice, but come across a not-suitable-at-all cooking method, and the best quality of ingredients mean nothing to the diners anymore. Well, this one is a great example showing the symphony between the cooking skills and the fresh ingredients. Nicely done!

Meet and Exceed?

On the menu, we could see a dish involving the concept of Aquaponics that we were very interested in trying, but it requires advanced booking so we are yet to have a taste of it. We do not think this is a  direction that most of the restaurants are going, of course due to the cost and feasibility, that's why we are so supportive of places who have such passions and ability in rolling this out, for the sake of our environment and our health. You will not come across a seemingly good deal in this place since the items are in general more pricey than others, but because of its quality, it's worth it.
