Charming us with the beef!

Impression

Last day in 2018 and here we wish everyone an amazing new year ahead! It's been a while since we last visited a worth-recommending place serving Chinese dishes. Sometimes it was just the inconsistency in quality of the food items provided, or the way-below-expectations service that we rather hold it and not sharing our experiences in this blog. So, finally we came across this place, located at the first floor of a hotel, serving nourishing dishes which have warmed our heart in this last day of December.

Seriously, this Beef in Secret Sauce (HKD 78) has amazed by but its enormous portion. It is listed on the "Appetizers" on the menu, we expected it to be small in size with few thinly-sliced beef and served cold; turned out it was served hot with this big size! Super thick-cut, and with the "secret sauce", they tasted heavenly good. The sweet sauce penetrated the flesh all the way through and the taste lingered until the next dish. We did not plan to say it, but yeh, this is the best one of the night.

The Fried Rice with Wagyu Beef and Maggi Sauce (HKD 168) is a good one. In general, there are two things we would look at when we have fried rice. First, is it oily? This one is not, even when we finished the whole plate, you could hardly see additional oil drip on the plate. Second, is it medium-grained? Well, this one has been cooked to fluffy perfection. Of course, the ingredients are the key in evaluating too - and for this one, we would say the flavour of the wagyu beef was not particularly strong which probably due to its quite "minced".

This one is a low-key dish n the menu, Rice Noodle with Sea Food and Signature Fish Soup (HKD 88). The one thing that surprised me is the type of seafood used here were not commonly seen in other places - the "real" seafood instead of some fake "lobster fish ball" or "crab stick". For the soup base, as the name suggested, it was "signature" but it tastes no difference from the local restaurants that you could easily found in the main streets, nothing stands out.

Meet and Exceed?

For the service provided here, we could illustrate by sharing a real example we personally experienced. 5 minutes after we left the place, I was being called by one of the staff, saying we have left one of our belongings - a jacket on the table. We were discussing something attentively when we paid the bill, that's why we forgot to take the jacket with us. For sure, we went back immediately, and before we even came close to the entrance, the jacket has already hold by a staff and handed to us directly - saving a bit of our walks. It is this little actions that impressed us, by the fact that they are as equally care about our belongings as us, and being thoughtful and efficient in the whole process.
