Restaurant Review - Cobo House - Hong Kong

Awesome place for quality Western dinner!

Impression 

We came here on a weekend night. It was located near the MTR station and it takes less than 2 minutes walk. This place was opened for a while and every time we pass by, we were like "We got to try later!" And after months, here we go haha. The environment was romantic with spacious and comfortable seats setting.

The Popover came first, which is the Soft-Shell Crab, Garden Salad with Jeju Citrus Dressing and Wasabi Ranch Dressing (HKD 268). The first thing we noticed was of course the huge portion of the soft-shell crab which was super crispy! The Wasbi Ranch Dressing was my favourite, with quite some strong tastes and paired perfectly well with the meats. One thing is that the deep-fried crab was quite oily with a thick coating, but they have cleverly provided a big bowl of salad veggies to balance it.

The Hokkaido Uni, Korean Chili, Linguine (HKD 338) was awesome! It was as creamy as it looks with all the white seemingly bubbly sauce. We have to say the portion of the uni was huge - really good value and worth trying. After the first few bites, the uni starts melting into the sauce and it became very rich in terms of the texture. The pasta itself was al dente to be a bit chew-able too. One thing you might notice is that the presentation was so flowery, love it!

Here's the main. Okinawa Pork Belly (HKD 328) with Korean Soybean Paste, Tomato Sauce, Pickle and Garden Salad. It may not look like this, but they actually melted entirely in your mouth once it has been put into the mouth! The skin has been grilled a bit to make it slightly crispy, and create a strong contrast with the super tender meats. The housemade pickles was sour with the right amount of seasoning too.

Meet and Exceed?

The price setting was not low as you might aware, but we need to say it definitely worth it, with the quality of the food and the decent environment provided. Food items were decently presented with creative combination. The sauce was all housemade and we really appreciated such extra efforts in making the dishes more unique. There are lots of other choices, for example the sweets, on the menu that we would like to try next time!
