Restaurant Review - Lazy Hotpot - Hong Kong
A place for Autumn (or Winter) Hotpot!
Impression
So glad that Autumn is finally coming! This is the main reason that recently we have visited a lot more hotpot places to dine in, to feel some warmth and satisfy our belly haha. This time we went to this place which is very convenient if you take MTR, just few minutes walk from the closest station. We came during a weekday early night and surprisingly it was 80% full already. Such a popular place! For sure, we did not forget to order the most recommending base Chicken with Sliced Whelk and Dried Fish Maw in Pot (HKD 188 for Half). It was as super rich as we expected, with generous portion of whelk and fish maw, particularly when they were matched with the chicken, Gosh, they taste awesome! The combination was like no other. We have yet to try other styles of soup base, but this instantly becomes our favourite already.
The Home-made Deep-fried Bean Curd Roll (HKD 52) is another must-order. It has been really freshly deep-fried just before being served so it was crazily hot when the plate hit our table - but crazily delicious when you have it too. To be honest, there's some guilt when we ate them but well it's okay just once in a while right? haha. For cheese lover, please try another version with cheese too.
As fish lovers, we did not hesitate to order this Crispy Grass Carp Belly (HKD 85). The portion was slightly less than we expected but the freshness of them were more than satisfactory. As the name suggested, they were crispy enough and being sliced in an appropriate way. The part was what we quite enjoyed too.
For the Speciality Snacks, we have chosen the Deep-fried Dace Ball (HKD 48). Again, it was being freshly deep-fried, so do be careful and do not have them too rush. As a classic Chinese dish, the place has managed to flavour them with the right amount of seasoning without adding too much salt. There were six pieces and they were chewy and tender. Such a great one as a snack.
We did not forget to order some plant-based ingredients to calm our stomach. The Ceylon Spinach (HKD 34) and Yam (HKD 42) were nothing out of our expectation. We particularly appreciated the yam has been picked carefully that there was not any black dots on them (which we often see in other hotpot places). Good value vegetables!
Meet and Exceed?
We were very satisfied with this meal. Both in terms of the quality of food items and the service provided. We were not in the position to judge if it was under-staff or not, but we did see they kept running around and answering diners' request. What we really felt is their hard-work and passion towards their seemingly repetitive duties. It was nothing related to our food, but we saw that. By the way, there's discounts if you paid by certain credit cards too!Lazy Hotpot // 852-2508-0002 // Facebook page
