Restaurant Review - Rice Love - Hong Kong

Ultra good value dishes in a local restaurant!

Impression 

We have long noticed this chain store (there are few outlets in Hong Kong so far - Kowloon side) because of its relatively young and energetic style serving unique dishes with fresh ingredients. It's easy to look for a local restaurant with local interior design and dishes, but with a neat and tidy environment plus reasonable price? Well, we have gone through a number of trail and error.

This Giant Hamburg Steak Omelette Rice (HKD 51) was way better than we expected. We were not being unfair to some quick dinner with economical price, but just from the look at it, we already know we found a really good spot to dine in. The omelette was freshly made of course, and its not only being well-handled, but also very soft with milky flavour. The portion of the rice underneath was generous too. The little salad side dish was fresh and nothing out of average. And finally, the steak and its sauce were not particularly superb, but definitely well deserve this price set.

The Tomato and Oxtail Soup Udon (HKD 48) did not disappoint us at all. The tomato soup base itself was slightly too sweet but the texture of the udon was nicely cooked. As you can see in the photo below, there were quite a lot of veggies including zucchini, broccoli, corn, tomato, seaweed and of course tomato. The presentation was not the best but we have nothing to complain with such reasonable price. The amount of oxtail given was not too little and the freshness of them was average.

Meet and Exceed?

This is no doubt a very good value local restaurant serving many Hong Kong-styled dishes while mixing different kinds of varieties. In the menu, you can see there's a mixture of Japanese, Western, Korean food items while they are all developed based on the Hong Kong-styled. The thing we appreciated the most is that you would not see any old-school interior design or characteristics - but a more chic and modern style, while maintaining a very affordable price.
