Chilling Spanish time!
Impression
My friends and I were attracted by this place because of its outdoor area were very close to the main road, we believe it would be an awesome place to chill out and have some drinks. However, when we were there, we realized the place's interior design is so funky with vintage wood as the main theme and lots of playful decorations. So at last we decided to sit indoor to have the full view haha. Our night started with this Tomato Cream Striploin Capacio (HKD 98). We were surprised by this delight - there were three layers in totals and they all contain different texture but together became a perfect match! This dish deserves a badge of honour for comfort eating. Quite a good one-bite starter.
The Duck Cigar (HKD 88) was quite interesting. As its name suggested, it was meant to look like a cigar, but we all agreed that it more looks like fingers haha. How strange is our mindset! Kidding, they look like cigar too and because they served hot, some smoke even came out after your first bite and this made it "look" like cigar in one more deeper level!
This Chilled Tomato with Cod Fish Salad (HKD 78) was great in terms of its colorful and eye-catching presentation. Fresh fruit plus herbs plus the black cod fish. We were not sure why it is called "salad" but anyways, it was a refreshing one. The flavour of the fish was not overly strong so even one of my friends who always have no space for sashimi was still feeling good for this one.
I have to admit that I ordered this item because of its name "Bikini" (HKD 88). It was actually a slightly toasted Spanish sandwich with ham and cheese and truffle butter. Nothing much can go wrong as a relatively simple dish - the taste of it was nothing out of our expectation. Served as a good starter but if you fancy something more special, you may go for the above ones.
This Baked Chicken Wrap with Shrimps (HKD 188) could easily be my favourite "Big Bites" on the menu. It was so special that neither of us has tasted any like this. First of all, the bread was freshly baked that you could even smell the taste of yeast (if you are a baker yourself, you know what I am talking about); second, the texture of the chicken was so tender and juicy with the right amount of seasoning! The only thing was that the chicken was still with the skin on that we were quite concerned about our belly lol. There's even melting cheese coming out of it when we cut it, mouthwatering!
Of course we did not forget to order the classic, Chicken Paella (HKD 168) as the other main in the "Big Bites". The al dente texture of the rice was just cooked to perfection. The sauce of it was quite on point with rich flavour in seafood. The portion of chicken was just enough for sharing and the added veggies were a good combination too.
This mocktail Pure Frutal (HKD 88) did not disappoint us. Using simple ingredients: berries, coconut milk, simple syrup and orange juice which have served as a great drink for the night.
To our surprise, the Spanish Sweet Lemon Bun (HKD 68) was probably one of the best Spanish desserts we have ever had. It was not overly sweet with a strong taste of lemon as promised. The most unforgettable element was that the crust of the bun was warm but the filling (cream cheese, I guess) was cold (or cool)! We believe it takes skills and experiences to create such dishes and maintain the quality.
Meet and Exceed?
For the "Big Bites" part, we found that they were not really "big". The portion size of them was much smaller than we thought, and we could not help ordering more items than we planned to fill our hungry soul; however, the "Small Bites" were okay as we knew that they were going to be our starters only. We did not have enough space in our belly but if we did, we would probably go for the dessert part.Elia // 852-2721-3600 // Facebook page
