Restaurant Review - First Taste Soup - Hong Kong

Where to go for some Autumn hotpot?

Impression

Autumn is finally coming and it's time for (more) hotpot! We were attracted to this place because of its highlight on the use of natural ingredients in making the soup base, without any MSG. Especially in Autumn, we were looking for somewhere which provided "moisturizing" (yes, like your hand-cream) classic soup base. From the name of the restaurant, we could not guess it's actually a hotpot place though haha.

Firstly, we have ordered this Black Garlic Wild Mushroom Soup (HKD 40) with an additional item Fish Dumpling (HKD 8 for 3 pieces). Good value good value. The portion size of it was generous including the ingredients and the rice. The different types of wild mushroom was nicely handled and have been cut into bite size. The soup base itself was a bit salty, but overall it's a nice one if eating rice is necessary to fill your belly lol.

For the base, we have chosen Coconut Chicken Pot (Half; HKD 128). It's before long when this huge bowl was ready and being served. We were surprised by how rich the base was with the coconut. The coconut itself has been melted completely into the soup and you can barely chew on them; however, their taste was everywhere even in the chicken lol. Different kinds of fungus have been added too. The portion of the chicken was generous and we still managed to finish them all!

We have also ordered Beef Chuck (Small; HKD 98), Fish Fillet (HKD 68) Crab Roe Balls (HKD 38). The freshenss of all items were within our expectations and we particularly enjoyed the beef because of its flavourness. Dipping it for 10 seconds and then let it cool for 5 more seconds... Yum! It would be even better if the meat could be defrosted for a while before serving.

Meet and Exceed?

The place has done a good job in providing the right style of environment for a group of friends to enjoy some hotpot time. Once you stepped in, it feels very much like a exact spot to have some beef haha. I would say the choices on the menu lack certain varieties that you may not see what you usually ordered in a hotpot place.
