Restaurant Review - Big Sweet House - Hong Kong

A local dessert house for Western/Eastern desserts

Impression

Despite the fact that the place is not located in a tourism place, they apparently have quite a lot to offer. We were passing by the other day and realized their menu included quite a lot of items - some are classic and some are quite Hong Kong-styled. Without many similar dessert eateries nearby, we were keen to give it a try and satisfy our sweet tooth.

This warm version of Coconut Egg White Steamed Peach Gum (HKD 50) was so nice. The smell of coconut was quite strong when served on the table. Is it just me who found that the coconut flavour is so comforting? It's mixed with egg white and peach gum. For the portion, I would expect a bit more peach gum in order to boost the collagen haha.

Chocolate Lava Cake with Ice Cream (HKD 45) was another good one. The plating was really good for this one, with colorful tiny marshmallow, chocolate sauce, icing sugar and some cream on the cake. The outside was crunchy enough and the inside was soft and warm and sweet as expected. It matched well with the vanilla ice cream. Like it!

Wrap up

We were quite surprised by its high quality of both Western and Eastern desserts. We have visited quite a number of local dessert house and I would say a larger number of them were more focus on the quality of food only and not much on the presentation. For this place, they have equally put effort in improving the appearance of the dishes which is something we do appreciate.
