Restaurant Review - Nitaya Thai House - Hong Kong

Economical Thai food with huge portion!

Impression

Around 2 years ago, we did visit this place for the their Mui Wo outlet and did not leave any particular impressions for the dishes. This time we came to their Tai Hang outlet simply because we were passing by and our stomach were intensively calling for some Thai dishes haha. We were surprised that even during late night ie 9pm, the place was still quite crowded with almost full house. Some were locals and some were foreigners. Well, part of the reasons might be it was a Friday night but we guess the quality of dishes was also the reason as well.

This KungFu Noodles (HKD 50) was an off-menu item. When we were looking for some soup noodles to order, we found the poster of this item being stick on the wall next to us. So we decided to give this new item (I assume) a try. It was basically a mix of everything ie some peanuts, pork neck, chicken feet and minced pork. It was nice overall with rich flavour and generous portion of noodles. The only thing that I would suggest is using some minced meat with less fat since the fat makes the soup base quite oily.

And here comes to the champ. This Rib Rice (HKD 54) was a big surprise to us if you really look at the size of the rib and how much meat there was. With this price setting, we were just expecting may be half of it but we have underestimated it! The texture of the meat was so tender, nothing less than the rib offering in some high-end restaurants. And the sauce was awesome - not watery and spicy enough to have me keep getting bites after bites. Really good value!

Meet and Exceed?

This district is an interesting one - without having some popular huge shopping malls but still managed to be a place gathering lots of excellent cuisines providers as well as diners. You (your stomach, to be exact) would never get bored to look for quality dishes here. For this one, we were for sure surprised with the value of the dishes. Once again, showing us an economical price could get us some delicious late night dinners.
