Restaurant Review - Qi House of Sichuan- Hong Kong

Spicy lovers, please come!

Impression

We were attracted to this place because it has been awarded One Michelin Star in 2016, 2017 and 2018 in the Hong Kong and Macau Michelin Guide. Wow that's impressive! And Chinese dishes, especially Sichuan ones, with its complicated flavours, it's always tricky to manage and present. Once you stepped into the building, you will find yourself very comfortable because of the interior design, relaxing environment and the attentive service. We appreciate how spacious it was and how much privacy it has given to the diners.



Our night started with this complimentary starter (HKD 30). Well, these three had already got my eyes full of tears because they were really something - spicy!



The Pan Fried Fish Fillet in Sweet Chili Sauce (HKD 125) did not really deserve the word "sweet" since I could barely taste any sweetness, just so much chili and a bit salty for my taste - but certainly I would describe it as some explosive tastes... I appreciate how they have put some salad vegetables on the side, showing a mixture of Western and Eastern style of food presentation. And for sure, they would be a good escape if you would like to have something to balance the strong taste haha.



The Minced Pork and Chili Fried Rice (HKD 110) was no kid - it was spicy even with just one bite lol. And as you can see in the shot below, every thing has been well-fried with the right amount of cooking oil (important point) and ingredients. Even after the whole plate was being finished by us (within 10 minutes), you could not see the slight presence of oil on it - which is a clear indication proving the skill sets of the chef. Easy to say but hard to do.

Wrap up

One thing I should have mentioned is that the arrival time of the dishes after placing our orders was really swift. We did not count literally, but it was around 5 to 7 minutes more or less. We were so impressed by its efficiency and even questioned about how they actually did it haha. Anyways, with the proved quality of food and the enjoyable environment, do come if you are excited about real spicy dishes.
