Restaurant Review - Layer's Cafe & Pancakes - Hong Kong

 Loving souffle pancake and desserts?

Impression 

The place is located in one of the main street in Kowloon City. Souffle pancakes are super popular among youngsters in Hong Kong these days and there are a number of places (mostly from Japan) are opening in different districts here to satisfy our cravings for this fluffy sweet. We found this one very recently and attracted by its highlight in pancakes.




We have ordered the Layer's Breakfast (HKD 88) which included souffle pancakes, salad, sausages, mushroom and scrambled eggs. The souffle pancake came first. It was very fluffy and light without being overly sweet. It has been pan-fried nicely so you can see the coloring on it was decent. Do remember that the batter deflates quickly so put down your camera and enjoy them first! Maple syrup was served on the side for the souffle pancakes by the way.



Other parts of the meal were nothing less than we expected. The only thing that I would recommend is using other salad dressings instead of the white one since it could be less heavy. Thumbs up for the scrambled egg!



Another dish we have ordered was Avocado & Ham Toast with Fresh Fruit (HKD 58). They were incredibly fresh and I can see that the fruits were being carefully selected. The toast was being served warm with light flavour of butter and black truffle. We also appreciated the fact that the price was not being set aggressively.




Wrap up 

We were impressed by the detail and dedication that had gone into the food - everything was very nicely presented. If you look closely of the food, you would find that they have been perfectly put on the plate. Nothing was too fancy or being cook in a complicated way, but the simplicity makes it very appealing and I loved the natural earthy flavour of the food.
