Restaurant Review - Soup Day - Hong Kong
Let's grab some housemade double-boiled soup!
Impression
The place is located near the not-chillingly-long stairs and if you are familiar with this area, it should not be hard to find. We were surprised by how "organic" the interior environment is - with lots of organic ingredients for selling on the shelf and also showing the food that used to make the soup/dishes. We like the transparency of it.
We know this place because of its homemade soup, so the first thing we did is ordering two of them. One is the Betterday - Double Boiled Black Garlic and Sea Conch Soup (HKD 58). The generous portion of ingredients given has wow-ed us!
With the black garlic, dried longans, pork and sea conch, you can easily imagine how rich the taste is for this bowl of soup. This is only my second or third time of eating the whole black garlic and we can actually taste the earthiness of it. Our stomach instantly felt something different when we finished half of it - it was the feeling of satisfaction and comforting. I guess this was meaning that our body was liking what we have swallowed haha.
And here's the second one, What'sToday - Double Boiled Dried Scallop and Matsutake Mushroom Soup (HKD 68). Again, the ingredients given were no joke, almost took up one third of the whole bowl. This one taste a bit salty and we were told that it is all came from the natural flavour of the ingredients. We appreciated how much emphasis has been put into making the products fresh and natural, using only the quality ingredients. Good value!
Wrap up
There's not many occasions that we can enjoy some healthy double boiled soup in Hong Kong, for one, because of the limited supply and another reason is those we have tried were not usually focused on "natural flavour" but "strong flavour" unfortunately. Especially in this district which fueled with fast food eateries, we felt particularly comforting to sit down (or you can order take-away) and sip the soup that is truly good for our health.Soup Day // 852-6386-4688// Facebook page
