Restaurant Review - Lifetastic - Hong Kong

Infilling some positive energy when dining in a cozy cafe!

Impression

Needless to say, it is not a difficult task to look for a cafe in Hong Kong - and this exactly leads us to another question - how do they stand out? For me, able to serving quality dishes is the key; and the following one would be how we feel when/after our visit. We were attracted by this cafe near the main street in Sai Ying Pun because of the implication of its name: Life could be fantastic. Well, it might sound easy and it did give us some positive energy during our visit.

This Crabmeat Mentaiko Pasta (HKD 128) is a signature dish in the place. The amount of the fresh mentaiko was generous as you can see in the photo. There was moderate amount of cream as extra flavour and it was satisfying. The mixture of crabmeat and mentaiko is so innovative! By the way, all lunch set is inclusive of Soup of the day and either English Breakfast Tea or Earl Grey Tea.



The Creamy Truffle Mushroom Veggie Pasta (HKD 98) was as creamy as its name suggested. Its creamy texture has been even heightened by the shred cheese on top. We are cheese lover - and we would say this was a bit too creamy to the point that you feel slightly heavy, even though it is a vegetarian option. There are abundant mushrooms and less greens in comparison.

The Mango Passionfruit Cake (HKD 35) was a delight for ourselves. It was not sour at all if you compare eating the real passionfruit and the flavour of the mango was stronger. It was not overly sweet with the right amount of real fruits. The different layers make it so appealing too. We were sure it has been stored in a good way since even the plate itself was cold haha.

Wrap up

Overall, I enjoyed how every dishes was being done in all the right ways. And there were 11 choices for lunch set! You might overlook this aspect but as a matter of fact, this is something we should appreciate. Being able to serve many dishes within limited time while ensuring the quality of each one is never a easy task and for sure it takes much effort and experience in doing so. By the way, do note that it could be quite crowded when it hit lunch hour - so get your arse moving after you are done with you set lunch haha.
