Restaurant Review - The Grill Room - Hong Kong

 Surprisingly good value Western lunch in town!

Impression

The place is located at the second floor of a serviced apartment which is, I would say, a bit hard to spot when you are passing by downstairs. Once you stepped into the elevator, until the moment you entered the restaurant, you would be surprised by the chic and modern design, as well as the relaxing ambiance. The kitchen was half-open that you could see the chef and the staff were busying preparing the food and serving to the diners on time.



The Caesar Salad (additional HKD 15) was within our expectation - fried bacon and the cubed crispy bread were on the point with the right amount of seasoning. The portion was enough for two persons to share as a starter too. Salad vegetables were fresh and the mayo was average.



The Black Mussel Linguine (HKD 68) was a real hit. It has seriously become my favourite dish once I tried it. The mussels were heavenly - I have never tasted one that juicy and fresh. You can literally taste the saltiness from the sea. And do not forget, the price setting was not aggressive at all and I would say it was of really good value.



This one has also had my heart melted. The creamy texture of Chicken Linguine (HKD 65) was thick but not thick enough to make you feel sick lol The cream used here manged to be just right. The bacon was not overly fat or oily too and everything was just perfect!



Our lunch finished with the Chocolate Mousse Dessert (additional HKD 18). The presentation was nice and the texture of it was a bit souffle-like. The flavour of the chocolate was relatively mild and not overly sweet. The chocolate sauce has successfully given a kick towards the taste.

Wrap up

If just commenting on their lunch set, they certainly scored high. With its location and the environment, we were very surprised that the lunch set are of that high value without compromising the quality of the ingredients (even without 10% service charge!). Again, the highlight was the mussels - very juicy and fresh like no other. And if there's any chances, I would be glad to come again for their dinner set or brunch.
