Restaurant Review - DALLOYAU - Hong Kong
Classic French place for satisfying your sweet tooth
Impression
We have ordered the Classic Afternoon Tea Set (HKD 268 per person) including 5 savouries (Duck Foie Gras, Black Truffle Lobster Petit Sandwich, Honey Beetroot Walnut Tart, Duck Confit Opera, and Classic Croque Monsieur) and 6 sweets (Classic Opera, Strawberry & Lemon Tart, Chocolate Choux, Earl Grey & Vanilla Cream Shooter, and Original Scone & Orange Scone).
May seem a lot but since it's an afternoon tea, so everything was very tiny in bite size. Nothing was out of ordinary. My favourite for the savouries part would be the Duck Confit Opera since there's a mixture of sweetness (the fruit jam?) and savory. It tasted quite special and in my opinion was the charm in this set. For the sweets part, of course the hit would be Classic Opera - rich in chocolate and coffee flavor while managed to balance the bitterness in a decent way.
As someone who refused to shy away from gaining extra pounds, I have also ordered Caramel Religieuse (HKD 58) and Chocolate Mousse Cake (HKD 50). The Caramel Religieuse was a bit overly sweet due to its crispy caramel and the heavy hazelnut cream inside two puffs; while the latter was rich in the chocolate flavour and I enjoyed those 7 layers each with different texture.
Wrap up
No doubt this place is a classic and relaxing spot for couples/families/friends to spend an afternoon (with no table returning time). The attentive service was another reason for us to come back - the staff has suggested a better position for the dessert plates for us to take clearer photos. So, forget about the calories intake for few moments and grab a cake first.
