Restaurant Review - Seoulmate Cafe - Hong Kong
A Korean cafe for desserts or hot food?
Impression
I came here alone looking for some sweet treats for myself on a weekday night. To the best of my knowledge, this place was relatively famous in serving interesting hot food than desserts. But anyways, Korean desserts were not always on my list and I was keen to try some.
Since I did not plan to get too much caffeine at night, I have ordered this hot Green Tea Latte (HKD 42) under the Non-Coffee Crafts column. I was glad that it was not overly sweet and the flavor of green tea was still earthy. The simplicity of green tea powder and milk became a good comfort for my soul.
So this is the guy, Mango Yuza Bingsu (HKD 88). It looked tiny in the menu but was actually huge when it arrived. The taste of mango flourished but the poor yuza did not have its part. I knew finishing it means putting on some weight but I did not care. The presentation was neat, nothing too fancy. When it comes to the taste - I would say it was quite plain. Half way finished and there's only those little cubed ice left without any mango/yuza flavor. I expected some more fruits or flavoring.
Wrap up
I quite like the free-thinking approach is adopted in the menus especially the hot food items - not every thing adhered to classics. Did not have the chance to try any of them, but this dessert-focus experience did not serve as a huge motivation. However, speaking of environment, here is no doubt a cosy spot for a catch-up with friends or a casual date.
