Michelin Review - Joyful Dessert House - Hong Kong
What is the way to look at a Michelin dessert place?
Impression
This time, we have ordered two of the most popular desserts, including Sorbet with Grilled Pineapple (HKD 56) and Strawberry Napoleon (HKD 64).
For the sorbet, it tastes relatively light (and freezing) - give it a try if you are in the mood for not-too-sweet dessert. It may sound weird, but I quite loved the natural earthy sourness from the pineapple. The point of grilling I guess was to make it sweeter and more crispy as a crust.
The presentation of the Napoleon was quite camera-ready that it has incorporated a bit of French styled including how they spread the strawberry sauce on top. Interestingly, some kind of cream cheese has been secretly put under the strawberry ice-cream scone which is very something subtly. Let me know if I made a mistake lol. The Napoleon itself was fine, though I would be much more happy if it could be homemade with strawberry sauce which contained less sugar.
Wrap up
The thing I appreciated the most is their desserts are priced reasonably even it has been awarded for the Michelin for 3 years and I think this is my way of looking at it. They have been focusing on making those few most popular ones so do not expect tons of choices. Less is more. The more you focus on one/just few things, the higher possibility that you could be successful on that matter.
