Restaurant Review - Nogawa Dojo - Hong Kong
Fancy for some Japanese-styled dinner?
Impression
We have came to a local mall (under a residential building) for some Japanese dinner. There were quite a number of promotion going on, for example, 12% off discount for your birthday dinner. Unfortunately I was not eligible for it yet (few months to go lol). We arrived quite early at around 5:45pm and were surprised to see there were almost half full inside already.
The Homemade Pork Cartilage Udon (HKD 118) was a delight. Basically I like all kinds of pork cartilage and this one was the soft type ie the meat was so soft as if it was marshmallow that you do not really need to chew it haha. I believe it has been cooked for a long time. Some people like the meat more chewy - if that's the case for you, then I would advice you skip this one. And the soft-boiled egg was a bit too "soft-boiled" for my taste that the york run a lot and tasted raw.
The Crabmeat, Toro with Sea Urchin Don (HKD 188) was average with quite a small portion of sea urchin. I may expect a bit more with this price though. However, the amount of toro and the crabmeat was generous which have fully covered the rice haha. The taste was okay. With the sprinkled green onion and white sesame, they gave the don an even better presentation.
Wrap up
The decorations here were quite interesting, with figures of many comic book characters all scattered around the restaurant. A very playful and at the same time relaxing environment - quite spacious between tables too so it gives enough privacy for diners. The only catch here was that for dinner semi-buffet, only 1 hour of meal time is allowed which was obviously quite rush. Wished we could can have more time to sit and chat after the meal.
