Restaurant Review - Isana Kushiro - Hong Kong

Surprisingly good ramen!

Impression

This mall was not a huge one but the decorations and the environment are quite neat and decent. Ramen is one of my favorite dishes because there are countless styles/method in making one - but that one could varied among restaurants in Hong Kong (let alone other places). So I am always curious to try out different versions to see if I could ever find the best one (for my taste bud) in my life.

So, here's my Pork Ramen in Chicken Soup (HKD 78). I do not think they paid much attention in making ramen because there were only three or four choices. And others are like skewers, sashimi and sushi. The idea of searing the outside of the sliced meat made this dish absolutely mouth-watering. And the low-key soft-boiled egg was amazingly moreish. I did not expect this kind of quality so it was a good surprise. Do note that the noodles itself was the ordinary one - not homemade and not my type.

I did not order any meaty skewers given that I have had enough meat - the Mushroom Skewer (HKD 16) and Green Onion Skewer (HKD 16) were relatively mediocre. They were a bit over-grill if you take a closer look at their bottom (not pictured), which unfortunately even brought some bitterness towards the flavor too. 

The Japanese-styled Fried Vegetables (HKD 48) was a bit disappointing not because of the portion, but is that I would expect "mixed" means few more kinds of veggies. If this was the way-more-picky reason, then this one was fine - fresh and clean tasting. And the portion size was worth it given that it did not price too high.

Wrap up

Regardless of their quality of skewers, I think this could be a good place for a quick lunch if you fancy ramen. Still, I think with this price, the ramen they served was a Grade A work. Of course, it would not be practical if you compared it with those fancy ones (with fancy price) but considering the convenient location and the fairly-attentive service, it worth my second visit.
