Restaurant Review - Le Sucre - Hong Kong
Western cafe with dessert highlights!
Impression
There were more eateries than you (or is it just me?) can ever imagine in San Po Kong. Just 1 year and it was a surprise for me to see many new places to dine in here. If you look closer, you will realize that many of them were serving Asian dishes - rarely do we see Western. And this is why I was attracted by this place to pay a visit during dinner time. It is located very close to the shopping mall Mikiki so it was quite easy to spot.

Assorted Mushroom Linguine with Black Truffles Pasta (HKD 98) started our night. There were generous amount of mushroom and they have been well-seasoned. I love the moderate amount of black pepper that have spiced up the relatively dull flavor but managed to be mild enough to be a non-spicy dish. The pasta was well-cooked too.

Toast with Crab Meat (additional HKD 18 with the dinner set) was tiny and in good shape as a starter/snack. The toast was fresh without being over-grilled, and the presentation was neat. I would say the flavor of the salad dressing was a bit too strong and has masked the savory taste of the crab meat itself.

Pan-fried scallop with Cream Pasta (HKD 168) was another delight. The scallop used here was of high quality. Some caviar paste was dressed on each scallops giving them a taste of seawater. The only aspect to improve is perhaps that the scallops themselves were a bit too well done.
Yakudo Brick (HKD 42) was not something we see very often in the dessert menu so I have eyes on it! I appreciated how they filled the plate with some biscuit crust and the additional toppings on the brick. It tasted a mixture of sweet and sour which was quite refreshing - absolutely a go-to if you are a fan of Yakudo!

Wrap up
I have to say the price has been set slightly higher than I expected. The quality of the food was good but it's risky to say it has absolutely lived up to the price level. The dessert was more outstanding - if you fancy some sweets, this place would be your choice.
