Restaurant Review - HeSheEat Cafe - Hong Kong
Falling in love with their Western desserts!
Impression
There were not many choices on the dessert menu, it mainly divided into three categories - waffle, milk pudding and pancake. Almost every desserts (except the pudding ones) came with a scone of ice-cream (with different flavor), and interestingly, they would pair a particular flavor for your choice of dessert. Although they were of same color, but we have already tried the white scone in flavor of vanilla, plain yogurt and tofu.
The Green Tea Waffle (HKD 58) started our dessert night. The waffle itself was freshly made (basically every thing was, so please patiently wait for 20-30 minutes after ordering) so it came with the light and tender texture. The green tea scone was nothing less than we expected. I think the highlight was on the red bean paste - not overly sweet and match well if you put these 3 into the mouth simultaneously - the paste, the ice-cream and the waffle.
Berrylicious Hot Cake (HKD 62) was such a delight. The hot cake, I think I should better call it a fluffy pancake, was so thick as you can see. Simply by cutting it, you could feel it was so tender and soft. The taste was the same - moist and satisfying. Without dipping any sauce, it was good enough to pair with the fresh berries. But if you are looking for some even stronger sweetness, those fruit jam could do you some good. Delicious!
The Green Tea Fondue (HKD 62) was another hit. The overall presentation of this dish was camera-ready but the cake itself did not look particularly pretty - but the what's inside was amazing. Warm, creamy and rich in matcha-flavor. You could taste the matcha powder used was in high-quality - with slight bitterness at the end. I also enjoyed the tofu flavor of the ice-cream next to the cake.
Wrap up
To be honest, I did not come here with high expectations towards the desserts. Because, after all, there were more choices of savory dishes and seemingly the desserts part was not the focus. But after having all of them, my perception has totally changed and realized this IS actually the spot for Western desserts. I am not dare to say their savory dishes are not as superb given that I have not tried yet, but if next time you fancy similar desserts, do give it a go.
