Restaurant Review - Kuru Kuru Homemade Fresh Pasta - Hong Kong

Japanese-styled homemade, economical and fast pasta

Impression

For some reasons, I am always attracted by any dishes that followed up the word "homemade". It makes me feel the kitchen is being serious about making its own food. For me, "kitchen" is not for making and mixing some pre-made food together but making every ingredients from scratch.

The portion of mentaiko in the Simeji Mentaiko (HKD 60) was much more than we expected though the taste of it was not strong (and not obvious at all in the photo). The texture of the pasta was fairly al dente; however, I did expect the eggy flavour of the pasta could be more earthy.

Shrimp Broccoli Anchovy Pepperoncino (HKD 48) was a good one too. Very good value considering its price – there was generous amount of shrimp and broccoli. I like how the spice (not extremely spicy) has made the dish less boring but it was a bit oily overall.

Wrap up

It was a bit interesting since the pasta itself did not really taste like it was homemade (probably because it was not as al dente as the Italian ones) - but I am sure it was. So I guess my belly and stomach can feel it, just my taste buds were not working too well haha.
